About Frank Fat's

Elegant 1939 venue serving elevated Chinese cuisine in a soaring space with a speakeasy vibe.

Located at 806 L St, Sacramento, CA 95814, Frank Fat's operates as a chinese restaurant serving Sacramento in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. Typical hours are 11:30 am–8:30 pm. It is closed on Monday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Frank Fat's at (916) 442-7092; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is frankfats.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 1,378 reviews, which is a strong result for a chinese restaurant in Sacramento and suggests consistent service.

Sacramento is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Sacramento is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Interior feel nice, high end, has a bar, the sitting along the bar feel pretty tight. lunch special price is reasonable, decent food, recommended. Last time we also tried the banana cream pie, really good.

Great old Chinese food place (1939). I am so glad I listened to my friend who said that "everyone and their mother say it's good" and hell yes it was! Had the Phoenix Dragon and Honey Walnut Shrimp along with fried rice. Apparently two classic dishes. The service was courteous, professional and very friendly. This place left us wanting to return but there was no time left. But if I am ever in Sacramento again I will definitely be back.

The food here is unbelievable. The chow mein is incredibly delicious, and the walnut shrimp is on another level. Also, the banana pie is something you really can’t find anywhere else β€” it’s absolutely the best and a must-try. The only downside was the drinks. We ordered a martini, mai tai, and a pomegranate cider, and unfortunately all of them were pretty bad. That said, we were really there for the food, and the food definitely delivered. Service was okay β€” nothing special, but it got the job done. Overall, if you go for the food, you won’t be disappointed. Just maybe skip the drinks. 🍜🍀🍌πŸ₯§

Had some really good food! We tried the combination platter (special mention for the Yu Kwok), Hunan chicken (servers recommendation when we asked for something spicy) and vegetable fried rice (really good). Cocktails were okayish (I will have the Mai Tai again). Service was excellent. We got the Fat's Banana Creme Pie as a complement.

I came here for dinner on a Thursday at 6 PM. With a colleague. It was empty -ish but by the time we left at 8pm it was packed. I got the sampler appetizer with egg rolls, dumplings, yu kwok their specialty and chicken. My least favorite was yu kwok. The dumplings and salt and pepper chicken were good and the eggrolls were OK. The banana pie was really good. My colleague got the half peking duck buns and he said it was OK. I know this place is very popular but I wouldn’t say it’s the best Chinese food I’ve had.
